Sometimes fame and fortune aren’t enough. In this new American musical Pure Country, Rusty is a country music superstar at the height of his career with all the high stakes pressures that come with it. When they start to take their toll, he walks out of an overblown concert tour, where the search begins to find himself and the love he left behind. Pure Country is about the price of fame and one man’s journey home.

Multi-platinum selling country star Lorrie Morgan is set to star alongside Broadway veterans in this new musical based on the 1992 film. Peter Masterson (The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and the Oscar-winning The Trip to Bountiful) will direct and has co-written the book with Rex McGee (Pure Country the movie). Featuring two of the songs made popular by the movie and penned by the composers -- “Heartland” and “I Cross My Heart” -- the original score by Emmy, Oscar and multi-Grammy-nominees Steve Dorff and John Bettis draws on the sounds of New and Classic Country, as well as Broadway and Adult Contemporary.
